So I made it through the first week at school. It looks like it is going to be an intense semester with heavy reading. I am already behind and overwhelmed and it is only the second monday of the semester. Oh well I will get through as I always do.
For Christmas I got gift certificates for London Drugs to get a digital camera so I do not have to worry about film when I am in Japan. However, I know nothing about digital cameras or their features so I am going to have to do some serious research before I decide which one to buy. Anyone have any advice?
I am getting really excited about going to Japan, I think that it will be what drives me on and gets me through the semester. I am hoping that I have early exams so that I can have a few days off before starting the course in Japan.
Well back to homework

Back to the real world
So Christmas was interesting. I arrived in Abbotsford on Friday December 14th arouond 8pm. My brother picked me up and drove me to my parents house so I could pick up pjs and a change of clothes (I sent them down with Wendy the year before). We then went back to his house in Mission where I spent the night. Saturday morning around 7am we left to go shopping in the US. Thankfully I was able to purchase most of my Christmas presents. We arrived back in Maple Ridge around 6pm, dropped my stuff of at my parents, then went to the mall to be trained for the booth. Sunday I went to church and hung out with my parents for the day. The remainder of the time prior to Christmas was spent working at the mall, helping my dad with papers, baking, and finishing shopping and holiday preparations. Christmas morning I spent baking while my parents went to the church to scrub the pans from the community dinner the night before. We had our family christmas on boxing day. After christmas my time in Maple Ridge was spent seeing friends and cathching up. It was nice to see everyone again but it also hurt that so much of the focus was on Kaeden and Veronica and in many instances I felt almost completly ignored around people that I have not seen since the summer or even last christmas. I was definatly glad to get back to kamloops and have my own space again.
This semester looks to be decent. So far I have had one class and a four hour break. Got to head to my second class now (yeah Brit Lit).

almost done
Finally I only have one more exam left to write in two hours, yeah. In less than five hours I should be on the bus going home and in eight hours I should be home. It feels so good to be done this semester has been insane. Oh well I will have 3 weeks off to relax and have some fun. Plus I will do a bit of light holiday reading including Paradise Lost by Milton, some Can Lit and some Brit Lit. But at least I can do it in the bathtub. That is the only thing that I do not like about my new place is it has no tub only a shower.
Anyway so I will be in Maple Ridge until the begining of January and hope to see all my friends and family that are down there. Between now and Christmas is more or less a write off for visiting since there is so much to do plus working for mom and helping dad. But I think that I have a clear schedual after Christmas so I can do plenty of visiting and catching up.

Weekend full of unpleasent news
Okay so it actually started Friday afternoon but that is close enough to the weekend to count. I had my American Poetry exam on Friday and thought that it went fine. Once I finished I got my final essay back for the course and now do not know how to feel about the exam since the teacher seems to mark randomly. So back to the paper I got a C+ which is okay but then I lost 20% for being under the word limit so I failed the paper. This means that I have to pass the final to pass the class and I do not know how the teacher marks so I have no idea if I passed the final or not. I was really disappointed and not happy at all since I have never failed anything before.
Saturday I found out that my friend is not doing so well.
Sunday morning was awesome, Pastor Joe preached an awesome sermon that gave me a new perspective on the last few days. I studied during the afternoon for my exams this week then went back to church for the evening service. At the evening service I found out about the shootings in Colorado and that the church they occurred at is the same one that a family in our congregation used to attend and is the same one that the Bevere's attend, Lisa Bevere was the speaker at the women's conference that I attended a few weeks ago. Our church has a strong connection with the Bevere's and so their church feels like our church. So learning about the shootings was not the greatest way to end the weekend and start a new week especially since the details were so sketchy. They still are very vague in the information that has surfaced in the media but at least it is something. Keep praying for the families of those who died, the rest of the congregation, the police to have the wisdom to solve this mystery, and for all others that have been affected by this tragedy. The one positive thing to remember when you think of this tragic event is that it means God is working since the devil felt threatened to the point where he had to take action and try to break the momentum of the movement of God in Colorado.
Well I had best get back to studying and preparing for finals.

end of semester = stressed and tired
So I finally finished all my assignments now I just have finals to write, uggghhhh. My first is American Poetry tomorrow and I have not a clue what I have done in the class all semester plus I do not know how to study for the exam. It will be intereting to see how that one turns out. Then I have 3 exams next week plus review sessions for work. Next week is filling up so fast I do not know when I will have time to think. Right now my schedual is
Monday 2pm study group for BC Lit exam
Tuesday 2pm geomorphology exam
Wednesday 9:30am study group for french exam
2pm BC lit exam
6pm review session for work
Thursday 12pm review session for work
Friday 11:30am work wrap up party
2pm french exam
4:30pm catch greyhound to Abby
8pm arive in Abby - Nat picks me up then go home eat and help dad with papers
In between all these schedualled things I also have to clean my house, pack, make the cookies I promised my friend and neighbours, study for the exams, and plan the review sessions. But at least then I am done with classes for a while although I do not think the break will be all that relaxing since I am working for mom at the mall and helping dad with his deliveries plus I have school stuff that I have to get done. But it will be great to see the family, I feel that I miss so much of everyones lives by being up here. Ah well it will be another interesting holiday with my family.
